Rape of Abeer worth 10%

Filed under: Uncategorized — barabie @ 1:59 am

A soldier pleaded guilty at Ft. Campbell to being an accessory to the rape and slaying of 14-year-old Iraqi girl, Abeer Qassim Hamza and the slaying of her family. He was sentenced to 27 months in prison.

Pfc. Bryan L. Howard, 19, also pleaded guilty to conspiracy to obstruct justice by lying to his superior officers about the attack last year near Baghdad.

Anyone familiar with this heinous crime will recall another soldier was recently sentenced also, Cortez was sentenced to 100 years with a parole period of ten, meaning he is more than likely to be out within 8 to 9 years after having already served nearly two years while awaiting trial.

Now if Cortez could be out in ten years, meaning he served only 10% of his original sentence, does that mean Howard will be out in 2.7 months? Of course we are basing the 2.7 months on the 10% percent that other perpetrators of this crime will serve.

Not to mention how even 27 months is a slap on the wrist for the rape of a 14 year old teenager, the murder of Abeer and her parents and younger sister. 27 months? Where is the justice, basically just under 7 months for each member of Abeer’s family who was murdered that day. SEVEN MONTHS for the rape and murder of a child.
